Practical case#2: Tree maintenance in Paris: addressing bottlenecks and organisational silos

The maintenance of Paris 200 000 trees is an important issue for a better resilience, well-being and eco-awareness of its inhabitants; it is also a complex topic, due to the number and diversity of stakeholders it involves and the variety of situations it covers. The recent launch of a ‘greening permit’ (allowing citizens to transform some of the tree bases into street gardens) added an extra layer of complexity and underlined the need to address the topic from a user perspective. It appeared therefore as an excellent case for the ambassadors to test the blueprint methodology, a useful tool to tackle the challenges of administrations working in silos. A work session with the departments involved in maintaining the trees will be scheduled by next fall.
